In the framework of Heritage Week in August 2013 various events and activities took place at Fenagh Visitor Centre. A Taste of Fenagh was held on 18 August 2013 to bring together and highlight businesses, skills and products of people in Fenagh Village, County Leitrim, Republic of Ireland.
The initiator and organizer of A Taste of Fenagh day events was an energetic lady Teresa Lennon, who runs the Fenagh Visitor Centre with very creative approach. She contacted people and suggested them to participate. The result was successful and showed that many talents live in and around the small Fenagh Village.
It was the right place to be for those with a sweet tooth. Eamonn Tubmann showcased honey production. Tables were full of delicious cakes and bread made by Clara Home Catering (Fionnuala and Tommie Smith) and Kathleen Kelly Custom Cakes, inviting to take a bite. Baked goods from the Old Rectory B&B made one’s mouth water as well. Fortunately Teresa and Nicola from the Centre provided plenty of soup, scones, boxty, breads and jam for everybody.
Art and crafts part was represented by Paul Toolan (woodcarver and portrait/landscape painter), Andrea Fox Photography/Digital Art, Cathy Reynolds (oil/mixed media painting).
High quality wooden furniture was featured by Eltjo van de Laan from Lawderdale Furniture & Crafts Ltd., wicker baskets made by Niall Murphy and Dave Crosbie introduced various Fish Flys.
During the day children from local school helped to raise the festive feeling by performing original Irish dance and music.
Contribution from my part (view the event Gallery) consisted of little spotted quail eggs, laid by the lovely quail ladies, surrounding two white eggs of Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben hens from 12 Quail Farm, a few digitally enhanced photos of a Passion flower (passiflora caerula) bloom and some textiles designed by me. I brought along a little white A & M Texas quail to witness the exhibition and share the good mood.
